Stuck In The Snowball of Conformity
By Angie Lewis

Have you ever made a snowball? You keep rolling the snow over
and over in the snow and the snowball gets bigger and bigger?
Here is something to think about. The immorality of society
grows like a snowball. It keeps growing and growing until it is
so big that it becomes unstoppable. But this does not mean that
Christians ought to conform to the standards of this huge
snowball. The world is a big place there is plenty of room for
everyone.
Do not conform any long to the pattern of
this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is –
his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2
Marriage and family are falling apart because of the snowball
affect of feminism, lesbianism, homosexuality, religion, pride,
selfishness, war, sexual depravity, drugs, hatred and
bitterness. Are you affected by all of this depravity also? You
shouldn’t be if you are a Christian. This is following the
uninformed individuals and groups stuck in the snowball. God’s
family should not be stuck in the snowball. Have we not yet
renewed our minds with God? Do we not know what God’s good,
pleasing, and perfect will is for our lives?
Some of us think we know how to manage our family life and
marriage all on our own, without God’s wisdom. But have we ever
asked ourselves if are actually doing the right thing for our
family, or been displeased with a decision we made or had
regrets? When was the last time we asked God for guidance when
we felt unsure? Let’s take a look at some of what is growing in
this snowball and then we can figure out if we are following
God’s, good, pleasing, and perfect will for our life.
When dress comes to the point of near nakedness it becomes not
of the God ordained plan anymore, but for those who seek
self-gratification. We are not following the standards of a true
believer of Jesus Christ when we dress with disrespect for
oneself. God wants us to respect ourselves so others will also
respect us. Come out of the snowball of conformity.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me
together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am
fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know
that full well.
Psalm 139:13-14
Women want to have the right to kill their innocent and
beautiful unborn babies? And society has given in. They have
placed more value on a woman’s emotions than on her precious
baby. But look what’s happening. When a woman decides to kill
her baby she won't have to face her responsibilities, grow up,
and learn something from it, and deal with the consequences of
having sex outside of marriage. Maybe a value she could have
taught her own daughter – now what will she teach her daughter?
Likewise, teach the older women to be
reverent (respectful) in the way they live, not to be slanderers
or addicted to too much wine, but to teach what is good. Then
they can train the younger women to love their husbands and
children, to be self controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to
be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so no one will
malign the word of God.
Titus 2:4
No one is born a homosexual or a lesbian. Just like no one is
born a thief or a murderer. It is LEARNED BEHAVOIR! Much of what
we do in life and who we are derives from what we think and
believe in our mind. Sexual immorality is listening to and
believing in our depraved thoughts and then acting upon those
thoughts because of spiritual weakness. Through the use of
television and Hollywood, society has integrated itself into
this weakness and has confused many people to believe that they
too are forever branded homosexual. You have been deceived –
believe that! Perhaps you are stuck in the snowball of
conformity? Come out.
God has set certain standards in His design for individuals,
families and marriage that cannot be changed without
compromising certain values. Christian should not be changing
God’s standards to conform to their lifestyle. We have to remain
conformed to God’s standards that have already been established
for our lives. Otherwise, we’re not true Christians – we’re fake
Christians. Are you stuck in the snowball of conformity?
Do not love the world or anything in the
world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not
in Him. For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man,
the lust of the eyes and the boasting of what he has and
does-comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and
its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God
lives forever.
1 John 2:15-17
