Authentic Bible Faith : Part I of V

By Mark Stidham

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
(1Jn 5:14-15)

The key to receiving anything from God is in knowing His will. His will, however, is not some mysterious way out there thing that we can't ever figure out. No, God's Word is His will. What the Bible says you can have, you can have and what the Bible says you are and that you can do is who you are and what you can do. God's desire for you is revealed in the Scriptures. The Bible is God speaking to you.

In most areas we find that God's will is always the same for everyone. The Bible reveals that God is no respecter of persons and what he has done for one he will do for another. The only time God's desire for you is different is in the area of your calling and destiny, that is unique for everyone. I do not have the same gifts, talents, or calling as you. We are each unique in that respect.

However in the general areas of our lives, God's desire is the same. Take healing for instance. God wants all His people well and it is not His will that some be healed and that others should suffer. The Bible clearly states that Jesus took our infirmities and bore away our sicknesses and that because of His stripes we are healed (Matthew 8:16-17; 1 Peter 2:24).

Another instance we see in the Bible that God will meet our needs (Philippians 4:19). He doesn't want to meet the needs of one and leave another needy. We also see in the Scriptures that He will grant our Godly desires as long as we delight ourselves in Him (Psalm 37:4). That is always His will for us because the Bible tells us so. The Word of God reveals His will.

(1Jn 4:16) And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

What is important for us to understand about the Bible is that it is not a story about God's power as much as it is an unveiling of His love. In the Bible God demonstrates His love by using His power in behalf of those for whom He cares. So a key to having confidence in God is having confidence in the tremendous love he has for us. Paul prayed in the third chapter of Ephesians that we would experience the love of Christ so that we would be filled with the fullness of God. We are filled with Him as we begin to understand and believe in His love

From the very beginning of the Bible just after Adam fell we see God, because of His love for mankind, orchestrating a way to redeem him. God loved his creation and He refused to lose him forever. So through many years and miraculous happenings God brings Jesus on the scene to rescue us from the authority of darkness and put us once again in His glorious kingdom. That is a revelation of His love, demonstrated by using His power.

As we begin to develop confidence in God's love toward us, by feeding on this love unveiled in the Bible, we begin to receive from Him the things that He has provided. When we understand that His good, acceptable and perfect will toward us is one of good will and that He is always out for our good and not for our harm, we can boldly expect good in our lives. We can stand on the Word that says by His stripes we are healed, and boldly acknowledging that it is as much for you as it is for another. We can begin to know that he will meet our needs and grant our desires because we know that he loves us. And we can know this because it is all revealed in His Word.
